Introduction
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Homework has been considered a part of student&rsquo;s lives since the beginning of formal schooling. The most common purpose, or goal of homework is for students to have more opportunities to learn and practice materials already presented in class. But does homework cause some unintended negative effects?&nbsp;

Should homework be given?
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Some educators were concerned that homework could lead to too much stress on the parts of the students; some schools feel that homework doesn&rsquo;t help students learn. In fact, in 2018, one school in Sweden decided to do away with homework altogether.&nbsp;
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;How do you think that went?&nbsp;
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The school was happy with the outcome because it opened a lot more time for students to share with parents and friends after school. Some of the drawbacks related to homework, such as lack of sleep, burnout, and depression were also ameliorated.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The reason the school made this decision was mainly because they were concerned about the student's mental health. Without homework, students no longer had a primary source of stress.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In fact, the success of this decision isn&rsquo;t measured solely by the reduction in stress. Per the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment), Sweden and Finland, both countries known for banning homework, always rank quite well.&nbsp;
