We consider celebrities our friends and invest time, energy, and (sometimes) money to develop that friendship, even if the celebrity is unaware of our existence. We form deep bonds with them, which fulfill various social and emotional needs. <span style="12pt; font-family: Georgia, serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Celebrities are ideals to many of us. We have an idea of who and what they are in our heads, and their characteristics influence us at various stages of our lives based on what we require. Indeed, celebrities are accessible to us at every moment of our lives. We come to see them as idols or role models rather than mortals. <span style="12pt; font-family: Georgia, serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">In many ways, celebrity deaths can be as devastating as the death of a close friend or family member. It’s perfectly normal to be heartbroken when a celebrity leaves us.
